1. Visa and Documents
Most tourists need a visa to enter Vietnam. You can apply for an online visa (e-visa) or at the embassy. Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months.
2. Transportation
Grab and Gojek are the most popular ride-hailing apps in Vietnam. Motorbikes are the main means of transport, but you can also use taxis or buses. Be careful when crossing the street!
3. Currency
Vietnamese Dong (VND) is the official currency. You can exchange money at banks, airports or gold shops. Credit cards are accepted at most hotels and large restaurants.
4. Culture and Etiquette
Vietnamese people are very friendly and hospitable. Respect local culture, dress appropriately when visiting temples, and always smile. "Xin chao" (Hello) and "Cam on" (Thank you) are basic words to know.
5. Food
Street food is very safe and delicious. Try local dishes, but remember to drink bottled water and avoid ice at untrustworthy places.
6. Safety
Vietnam is a safe country, but be careful with your bags and phone in crowded places. Always keep copies of your passport and important information.
7. Weather
Vietnam has a tropical climate with rainy and dry seasons. The North has cold winters, while the South is hot year-round. Check the weather forecast before traveling.
